Product development updates from EPFR Global February 2008
Daily flows: EPFR Global has launched a Daily Fund Flows service showing flows for funds domiciled globally with about $5.6 trillion in total assets on a daily basis. This is a very unique service that, for the first time, allows clients to act on fund flows and liquidity data in real time.
New Weightings data: In the past year we have added new funds into coverage for both Country Weights and Sector Weights. With country weightings we have also added fund benchmarks to the individual fund data and also added (developed) Europe country weightings.
Flagging new funds: Responding to client feedback we have added a flag showing when we started tracking a new fund.
GICS: For equity funds reporting their sector weights we are now using GICS Level I Sector Weightings in addition to the Level II industry group data.
Expanded US coverage and Morningstar style/size categories: We launched expanded US fund flows data showing flows by large/medium/small cap funds and by style (value/growth/blend), both including and ex-ETFs.
Global sector flows: We’ve launched Global Sector Fund Flows for the following fund groups: Commodities/Materials, Consumer Goods, Energy, Financials, Health Care/Biotech, Real Estate, Technology, Telecom, Utilities.
Hard currency vs. Local currency: We now track Emerging Market Bond Fund Flows broken down by local currency EM bond funds, hard currency EM bond funds and blended funds.
Gulf/Middle East coverage: We’re expanding coverage of the Middle East and GCC countries in particular. Initiatives include expanding our coverage of regional funds, exploring opportunities for tracking sovereign wealth fund allocations, coding funds that comply with Shariah rules, and also adding the UAE to our Country Weights reporting.
Bond categories: In 2007 we began rolling out a range of new bond fund groups and money market funds with the goal of completing the circle for tracking fund flows, allowing clients to see the full picture of flows into and out of most major asset classes globally. New bond fund groups under consideration for 2008 include:
